WELCOME BACK! We are now in the planning stages once again for another successful Dance for the Rescues Event.

Check back here often as we update and refresh the website for DFR5.

Our organizing committe is now meeting monthly and we are planning a bunch of new things and also how to do our favorite things better.

Dance for the Rescues: A Zumba® Event for the Animals is a benefit for non-profit animal rescue organizations. Our primary beneficiaries are Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP) and Peace of Mind Dog Rescue (POMDR). This event will also feature and support other animal rescue groups committed to making a difference to animals in need.

The 5th Annual Dance for the Rescues event will be held at the Custom House Plaza – Monterey State Historic Park, in Monterey, CA on Sunday October 12, 2014 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

This event will once again showcase Zumba®, a high energy Latin infused dance combining salsa, meringue, cumbia, reggaeton and other dance styles. We will feature DJ Willi spinning the best in world/dance music and Host Kim Fujii. As we get closer you can check out our Guest Instructors! Page!

Rescue and support groups such as AFRP, POMDR, Greyhounds for Life, Operation Freedom Paws, Annie's Blankets, Birchbark Foundation and Pet Friends Rescue will be available to share information about their organizations and to introduce you to some of their adoptable animals. There will be food, arts & crafts, pet related products and fitness/health vendors.

This music/dance event will always be FREE and open to the public.

We have built a lot into this new webpage and extend our outreach and heartfelt support to our friends in Vietnam, “Yêu Động Vật” (“Animal Lovers”).  Click on the  International tab to see the inspiring story of the YDV Animal Lovers, who are building a new foundation for support for campanion animals in that country. For those of you who have been following the story of Hope and Mercy on the Dance for the Rescues and AFRP Facebook pages, this is where you can see the sub-titled backstory on video, and see Hope and Mercy as they are carefully placed on the international flight from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco with two personal chaparones.  Both Hope and Mercy are presently in AFRP foster care with the DFR Event Director and Event Manager, and are looking for their "forever home."
